Ferry Marine is an authorised Suzuki and Mercury outboard dealer in Livingston, twenty minutes from Edinburgh, and a Yanmar dealer for inboard diesels. We supply new outboard engines from 2.5hp auxiliaries to 425hp repowers, rig them properly, and service them in our own workshop. Thirty-five years, one family, one workshop.
New outboard engines.
New Suzuki and Mercury outboards, 2.5hp to 425hp, supplied and fitted with the rigging, controls and propeller matched to your boat. Repowering an older hull is what we do most weeks.
Servicing and repair.
Scheduled servicing, diagnostics and repair for outboards of any size, and for Yanmar inboards. Workshop based, with on-site servicing for commercial operators.
Electrics, consoles & electronics.
New looms, switch panels, batteries and charging. Custom console layouts. Chartplotters, sounders, VHF and radar supplied and fitted — Garmin, Raymarine, Lowrance, Simrad, whatever you want on the dash.
Yanmar inboards.
Supply, installation, servicing and repair for Yanmar marine diesels. One of very few Yanmar dealers north of the border.
RIB tubes, RIB repairs and hull work all go to our other division, Rib Retube.
Two outboard motor brands, and we know both of them very well.
Plenty of dealers carry six brands and know none of them well. We carry two outboard brands and one inboard brand, and our technicians are trained by the manufacturers on all three.
Suzuki outboard engines
The full range, from the DF2.5 up to the DF350A — the quietest four-strokes on the water and, in the bigger sizes, the best fuel figures we see. Tender engines, auxiliaries, workboat power and the big repower motors, all from the same workshop.
Mercury outboard engines
FourStroke from 2.5 up to 150 for tenders, workboats and family boats. Verado from 175 up when you want the refinement and the electric steering, topping out at the 5.7-litre V10 — 350 to 425hp, and about as much engine as most transoms will take. Mercury outboards supplied, rigged and set up on your boat, not dropped off in a crate.
Anyone can sell you an engine.
Fitting it is the job.
A new outboard is not a box you bolt on. The engine has to suit the hull, the propeller has to suit the engine and the load you actually carry, and the controls, gauges and wiring have to be right before the boat leaves the yard.
That's what we do. Every engine we fit to a boat is:

Looms, switch panels, batteries and charging, console layouts, plotters, sounders, VHF and radar — all done here, as part of the same job. It's the part of a repower most people don't think about until the engine is on and nothing reads right.
Outboard and inboard motors, servicing and repair.
We service and repair outboards of every size, from a 2.5hp auxiliary to a 425hp Verado, and Yanmar inboard diesels. Annual services, impellers and water pumps, gearbox and lower unit work, diagnostics, corrosion and salt damage, winterisation and recommissioning.
You don't have to have bought the engine from us.
If you're a private owner, bring it to us. The boat on its trailer or the engine off the transom — either is fine, there's room to leave it with us, and the work is done here where the tools and the parts are.
If you're running boats commercially, we can come to you. Marinas, sailing schools, tour and charter operators, clubs with a fleet of ribs — we service on site and work round your season instead of ours.
Our marine workshop in Livingston, twenty minutes from Edinburgh
Our workshop is in Livingston, EH54 — straight off the M8, easy trailer access, and within an easy tow of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fife, the Forth and the west coast. Customers bring boats to us from across Scotland and the north of England, and most of the bigger repower jobs travel further than the local ones.
